Sydney was in the second of four heats in the 600, entering today with a seasonal PR of 1:42.68 and a lifetime best of 1:40.67. After a quick first lap, the pack slowed and Sydney found herself a bit trapped. Undaunted, she refused to let her PR opportunity slide by. With one lap to go, she started kicking and by the back straightaway she had moved into first. Racing against the clock at this point, she crossed the finish in 1:39.93, a massive PR and only 0.05 seconds off the school record! It's the fastest time since Colleen Cotter's mark, which was set 14 years ago. She now has the #1 time in Division 4.
Katie Salley was up about 15 minutes later in the 1000. She came in with a PR of 3:14.5, fourth all-time in school history. Hanging with a very competitive heat that was won in nearly 3-flat, she came through in 3:12.79, just 0.36 seconds off the school record, and #2 all-time in school history!
