Both girls finished their season in style at the New England Championships over the weekend.
Kelly tied for 10th in the Shot Put and placed 14th in the Discus capping a brilliant career in which she dominated the throwing events for a long time. No doubt the rest of the TVL is breathing easier now that she is moving her career onto UMass Amherst. Good luck Kelly, because of your work ethic and personality you have a great future!!
Brook ended her season with a 10th place finish in High Jump. She cleared 5'3". It is rare to finish your season at New England's as only a Sophomore!!
Congratulations to both young ladies on such a successful year.
Enjoy summer - it's here (though not quite for schooling purposes)...

Kelly Alves & Brook Geoffroy lead the way
Kelly had a HUGE day medaling in two events!
She heaved the Shot put 38'11" in what is close to a PR if not (I will check with Coach Manny) for a strong 4th place finish there. And then had what looks like her 2nd longest Discus toss of 112'8" for 6th place. I'm not sure the last time we had someone place in two events in All States - way to finish off a storied career Kelly!!! She qualified for New England's in two events!!! Not sure if that has happened in the past. Couldn't happen to be a better kid - good luck Kelly!!
Brook Geoffroy picked a great time for her PR of 5'4" to tie for a 4th place medal finish and qualified for New England's and Nationals!!! Pretty awesome for a sophomore!
Caroline Ward finished jumped 35'7" to finish in 8th place in the Triple Jump.
Hampton Boyd finished off with what I think was his PR at 50.92. Good enough to finish 11th of the 22 best in the state - nicely done Hampton!! Coach Kelly gave me an update and mentioned that the guy with the school record had a converted time of 50.04, so this is likely the 3rd fastest time in school history!
Becca Stevens ended up finishing at 5' for the High Jump to place 20th.
Congratulations to all the competitors - it is a great accomplishment to make it to All States!

Off to All States
Congratulations to the following athletes who made it to All States in Bridgewater this weekend (Saturday at Bridgewater State):
Becca Stevens - High Jump - seeded 2nd (tied with about 10 girls) and who has qualified for NATIONALS!! She has been jumping well in the big meets and that bodes will for a place high on the medal stand this year. Great season for the soon to be rising Junior!
Kelly Alves - Shot Put AND Discuss!! Not positive of seed, but placed third in the toughest division in both events and is killing it in her Senior year - UMASS will be lucky to have such a great competitor and even better kid!!! She will medal in one event and likely two with a good day.
Hampton Boyd - 400 - No seeds out there as yet. But he has the fastest outdoor time in a long time - his 50.90 beat what Zack Snow timed about 8 years ago. He is about a second within the school record 49.8 by George Tripp back around 1989 (for you high schoolers - we did have sports back then!) NOTE: Coach Kelly thought this may have been the TVL record as well. Great Senior season Hampton!!
Caroline Ward - Triple Jump - Not sure of seed, she scored a wildcard berth as she too was in the most competitive Division in the state by a long ways. She is a major threat to bust out a jump that will place her high on the medal stand at All states. Unfortunately for her the gal from Foxboro in divisionals shattered the previous meet record with a huge jump of 1/4 inch shy of 40'! Beating the old record by over a foot.
Brook Geoffroy - High Jump - another of our great jumpers, Brook could easily bust out a jump to place her in medal contention. She was at 5'2" in Divisionals and that is not her PR.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OUR ATHLETES, YOU HAVE DONE GREAT SO FAR - BUT THE BEST IS YET TO COME!! Hopefully we will be able to report on a couple athletes going to New Englands!
If I've missed anyone, please let me know at steve@accessenroll.com

PLEASE NOTE, There is not place to find out who participates in each event so my son helped me, but he doesn't know everyone. So I had to make an executive decision and try to put in as many names as we knew that medaled as this takes a while and we don't know a lot of kids! If you know someone in an event that medaled and I don't have their name - please send along to me at: steve@accessenroll.com - thanks.
ALSO - if you know someone PR'd in any event, please send it along - I don't care if they medaled or not - it's nice to include for anyone who improves over their best performance.
LASTLY - Please forward this onto anyone whom you feel would be interested. I'd prefer not to spend my time doing this if only 5-10 people look at it!!

Holliston wins 1st meet vs. Norton Boys & Girls
Hello again sports fans!
Our Panthers came out on top in both Girl's and Boy's this week versus a historically strong Norton team. The Boy's won easily 83-53, with the Girl's eking out a 69-66 win in Norton last Wednesday in chilly conditions.
Boys (whichever team scores more points in the meet will be listed first)
Yoel Lignabou and Sean Keast won two events to pace the Holliston Boys. Yoel had two PR's on a cold day, a great way to start the season! Sean won his two throwing events in the Discus and the Javelin - which is quite an accomplishment for a Freshman boy.
The top six scorers for the Boys included: Yoel (11 points), Sean (10), Hampton Boyd (8 points in the 400 (1st) and 100 (2nd) and Freshman Mikkelson with 8 points (1st in Mile/2nd in 800),
Ryan Sofoul (2nd in 400 & HJ and 3rd in 100) and Satchel Snow (1st in Triple Jump and 3rd in LJ) .
