TVL Recap

The official results were finally posted last night, so here's the extended recap of the Tri-Valley League Meet. The girls finished fourth with 61.5 points, the boys sixth with 23.

The first event was the Freshman Mile, and though it wasn't scored, it was a heck of a race by Addie Datz, who finished second in 5:54.25.

Up next was the 400 hurdles, with Anna Foster claiming 10th in 75.98, and Eve Bagley ran a time of 69.52 to take second place, still within a second of the school record. Ryan Leonard ran 60.62 to take fourth for the boys.

The 200 was next, and Virginia Hanstad was 18th in 29.40, and Kylie Lorenzen finished third in a seasonal best of 26.61! Ed Bennie was 24.45 in 13th place.

Katie Salley came up with six more points for the girls with a third-place showing in the mile with a 5:37, trailing only two of the best milers in the entire state.

In the 100, Sam Ratcliffe was 14th (12.48), Elena Daly took 17th (14.50), and Kylie Lorenzen earned another top-six ribbon with a sixth place showing of 13.24.

The first field events started to finish up. Madison Ward nearly won the high jump, as she finished third on the misses tiebreaker at 5'2, nearly clearing 5'4 on her last attempt. The surprise of the day, so far happened in long jump. After Elena Daly (15th, 13'8.5) and Alexis Mejia (12th, 14'1.75), Sydney Snow came in as the 12th seed, not even high enough to be in the top flight. But she not only made the finals, but claimed third place with a jump of 15'7, nearly qualifying for states and setting a PR of almost a foot!

Rachel Kriegsman was 15th in the discus (62'9), and Sophia Rahim had a huge PR to take 10th at 67'2.
Ryan Snow PR'd by over a foot to take fourth in the triple jump (41'1.5), while Mike Donovan made states at 39'0.25 and Logan Cotto jumped 39'0, taking 10th and 11th respectively.

Reuben Jacobsen (33'6.25) and Matt Wolfson (35'10), were 12th and ninth in the shot put, as Reuben had one of his best throws in competition this year.

Matt had a monster PR in javelin, by over 10 feet as he threw 130'4 for eighth place. Tanner also PR'd at 119'4 (14th), while Reuben was 21st (103'9).

Back on the track, Hana Gross was 19th (21.27) and Bridget Ghelli (18.30) finished 13th. Logan Cotto served notice by destroying the field in the trials with a 15.50 (third fastest in EMass Div. 3), then won easily in the finals in 15.70 to become the TVL CHAMPION!

Both 4x100 teams earned ribbons by finishing sixth. The girls team of Ally Rosati, Izzy Getchell, Kelsey Crowley, and Madison Savas ran 56.32, while the boys team of Ratcliffe, Liam Hebert, Donovan, and Bennie ran 47.51.

Alexis Mejia finished eighth in the 800 (2:33.61), and Sydney Snow had another PR by finishing third in 2:24.65. Tanner Datz was 18th in 2:19.75.

We nearly had two medalists in the girls 400, as Madison Ward went from the 12th seed to 7th place in 65.40, and Helen Dolan took sixth in 64.36. Ryan Snow and Rick Brown finished seventh (54.31) and eighth (54.50), a big PR for Rick.

Abby Meltzer nearly medaled in the 2-mile, taking seventh in 12:38. Ed Glazebrook was ninth (10:54), and Mike Glazebrook claimed fifth (10:24).

Back at field events, Madison took second in triple jump (33'6), while Kelly Alves was the only freshman to medal in shot put (sixth, 30'3.5), and had a big PR of 87'1 to take eighth in jav. Rachel was 19th (65'8). For the boys, Liam was 13th in long jump (17'5.5), while Logan took eighth (18'5.5). Ryan Leonard was 20th in discus (85'4), Sam Gillman 23rd (69'3).

Last but not least was the 4x400. The boys team of Leonard, Brown, Datz, and Snow finished fifth in 3:45.23, almost matching their seasonal best. The girls closed things out with a flourish. Eve Bagley opened the race, handing off to Helen Dolan in a pack of three fighting for the lead. Helen accelerated so quickly at the 200m mark that she stunned officials and rival coaches, opening up a 1-second lead on Hopkinton as she handed off to Anna Foster. Anna did a great job maintaining the lead, and Sydney Snow found herself battling the same anchor that Hopkinton had race her in Indoor TVLs. Fortunately the result was the same. Despite two different attempts by the Hiller to pass her, Sydney held the lead and the girls became TVL CHAMPIONS in 4:16.40!q
